Matterhorn uses found multiple postcard images of the mountain from the same Swiss perspective. Hayward initially reproduces them overlaid , registered to the characteristic profile of the mountain in each frame, and at low saturation, gradually removing image after image, page by page strengthening the clarity and revealing the final, close-up and full saturation, on the end page.
